ohkeepahblog: The Phish from Vermont to appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Tonight

Making their first public appearance since inducting Genesis into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, psychedelic rockers Phish will play Jimmy Fallon tonight as part of the Rolling Stones Week saluting the epic album "Exile on Main Street." Trey Anastasio, Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon, and Page McConnell of Phish will perform "Loving Cup."

Just as Phish’s work has become more focused following the band’s five-year hiatus, so has Anastasio’s solo music. Thirty minute, guitar-driven anthems have been replaced with tight melodies and traditional pop structure. With Classic TAB, it’s not uncommon for the spotlight to fall for periods on Anastasio’s bandmates.

In February, the band played a pair of 90-minute sets at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. During the first, Anastasio played Phish songs “Backwards Down the Number Line” and “Wilson” unaccompanied on an acoustic guitar. Later, bluegrass legend Del McCoury joined the band for three songs. The second set had a darker, heavier feel punctuated by the bass-heavy “Sand” and covers of Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog” and Dire Straits’ “Sultans of Swing.”

The Nashville show featured Classic TAB locking in and hitting their groove throughout, with Anastasio stepping out just enough for a textured, complete rock show. Listeners can expect the same on the beach Sunday night.
