Telluridewatch.com: New for Phish - Trip Tent

The stereotyping in this article is silly. I highly doubt 2k-5k additional fans are going to show up in Telluride. This is not the '95 Dead crowd.

With the jam band Phish coming to Telluride in August for two sold-out concerts, law enforcement and emergency responders are gearing up for what some have suggested may be an “iconic event” for followers of the band with the potential to draw as many as 2,000 to 5,000 “phans” above and beyond the 9,000 who have already secured tickets for each show.

“I don’t know that we’ll see that many,” Telluride Chief Marshal Jim Kolar briefed San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain Village Police Department, Telluride Marshal’s Office, Telluride and Norwood Fire Protection Districts and Telluride Medical Center personnel on Wednesday morning.

At the same time, “They keep painting a picture of how this is not really going to be a big event for us,” he said, indicating his belief that the concert promoters may be downplaying the potential crowd size as much as the rumor mill may be overstating it.

Recordnet.com: 63 arrested at chaotic Furthur fest

Sad.

Drug use, assaults and other lawlessness connected to the Furthur Festival held at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds over Memorial Day weekend triggered 63 arrests, injured five law enforcement officers and forced the Sheriff's Department to put all available officers on duty.

A detailed account of the wild weekend was issued Tuesday by the Sheriff's Department. It said, in part, that a 3-year-old child tethered by a leash to his overdosing mother removed his clothing to get away from the woman. She was hospitalized, and the child was taken into protective custody.

In another incident, a male cut his own throat and was attempting to further harm himself when emergency workers arrived.
