Furthur Officially Announces New Years Eve Shows

What many had been speculating for weeks came true today, Furthur has officially announced their year end plans for 2010. The band will grace the stage at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on December 30th and 31st. Old-school mail order is available October 9-14, while the internet pre-sale runs Oct 11-14. The public on sale is Oct 15. The band will perform three set's on the 31st and two set on the 30th. I predict Bill Walton to make an appearance as Father Time. To think just 10 years ago the Grateful Dead house divided with Phil Lesh and Friends playing the Kaiser and The Other Ones at the Oakland Coliseum. Visit for the complete announcement.

Hidden Track: "Legends of the Fall" Phish Fall Tour Preview

Hidden Track's Luke Sacks takes a look at the upcoming Phish fall tour that kicks off tonight in Austin, TX at the Austin City Music Festival. Luke offers up some "Halloween" scenarios, reflects on summer tour and predicts where the music might take Phish this fall.

But the last time we saw the band it was wrapping up a somewhat unsteady second leg of summer tour. Yes, the Berkeley Cities is other-worldly (how many recent jams can you hear/feel that connection between the crowd and the band that was felt during that segment?) and the two Alpine Valley shows brought the heat. But overall the shows lacked the creativity and punch of the first leg of the summer. I found it interesting that in Leg 2, there were 10 songs played four times in the 11 shows (Backwards Down the Number Line, Down with Disease, You Enjoy Myself, Possum, Ocelot, Run Like an Antelope, Tweezer, Tweezer Reprise, Mike’s Song and Weekapaug Groove).
